Colin Morgan was born in Armagh, Northern Ireland, on January 1, 1986. He is Bernard and Bernadette Morgan’s second child. His mother was a nurse and his father was a painter and mechanic. Every member of his family is a devout Roman Catholic who was born and raised in the faith.

Morgan was accepted at the Integrated College Dungannon in 1997. Morgan appeared in several films throughout his college years, including Surgical Sensations at St. Senapods and Bad Day at Black Frog Creek.
